Privacy Policy

Astryx is a personalized astrology platform available at astryx.life ("Astryx," "we," "us," or "our"). For the purposes of data-protection law, Astryx is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. For any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@astryx.life.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how we protect it, and the rights and choices you have. It applies to the Astryx website and services. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we link to or that operate independently, each of which has its own privacy practices.

Many parts of Astryx, including daily horoscopes, zodiac pages, the compatibility tool, and educational content, are available to anyone without an account and require no personal data. Astryx also offers free personalized calculators (the birth chart, rising sign, and moon sign tools) that ask you to enter birth details to compute a result. Those inputs are used only to produce the result shown to you and are not stored, unless you are signed in or create an account.

When you create an account and use Astryx's personalized reading features, we collect:

• Email address and password: used to create and access your account. Passwords are never stored in readable form. Authentication is handled securely through Supabase.
• Birth date, birth time (optional), and birth place: used to cast your natal chart. This is the foundation everything is built on.
• Gender (optional): used to personalize the language in your readings when provided.
• Display name: optional. You can set this in your account settings.
• Payment information: we do not store your card details. Payments are processed securely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment provider. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded.
• Your readings and purchase history: every reading written for you, and a record of your purchases (product, amount, date), is saved to your account so you can return to it whenever you need.
• Compatibility reading data: if you purchase a compatibility reading, you will provide birth details (name, date of birth, birth time, and birth place) for a second person. Before submitting, you are required to confirm that this person has consented to sharing their data, or that you otherwise have a lawful basis to provide it. This information is used solely to generate the reading and is stored in your account alongside the result. We do not contact, market to, or independently identify the second person in any way. If you wish to request deletion of a second person's data from a reading in your account, email support@astryx.life.
• Information collected automatically: when you use the Service, we and our analytics providers automatically receive limited technical information such as your device type, browser, operating system, approximate location derived from your IP address, referring pages, and how you move through the site. This is used to operate, secure, and improve the Service, as described in the sections on how we use your information and on cookies.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or make a purchase on Astryx. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older.

Astryx does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at support@astryx.life.

Free content tools such as horoscopes, sign profiles, the compatibility tool, and educational content require no personal data. The free personalized calculators (birth chart, rising sign, moon sign) ask for birth details to compute a result; those inputs are used only for that calculation and are not stored unless you are signed in or create an account.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.

• To cast and hold your natal chart within your account.
• To prepare your readings, drawn from your birth chart.
• To process your purchases and manage your subscriptions and gift cards.
• To send you account emails: purchase receipts, reading delivery notifications, and account confirmations.
• To keep your account and reading history safe and accessible.
• To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service, including preventing fraud and abuse and diagnosing technical problems.
• To comply with our legal obligations and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Where data-protection law (such as the GDPR or UK GDPR) applies, we rely on the following legal bases to process your personal data:

• Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)): to create your account, generate and deliver your readings, and provide the Service you purchase.
• Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): for optional information such as gender, for analytics cookies, and for any marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): to secure and improve the Service, prevent fraud and abuse, and understand aggregate usage, balanced against your rights.
• Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)): to comply with applicable laws, such as tax and accounting requirements.

Astryx uses the following third-party services to operate. Each receives only the data necessary for its function.

• Supabase (database, authentication, and storage): your account data, birth details, and readings are stored on Supabase infrastructure hosted in the United States. Privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy.
• Stripe (payment processing): your card details are entered directly on Stripe's platform and are never seen or stored by Astryx. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded. Privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.
• Anthropic (reading generation): when you purchase a reading, your natal chart is computed from your birth data and sent to Anthropic's language model as precise astrological inputs. This is not a generic prompt. The model receives your exact planetary positions, house placements, and active transits for your chosen time window, and produces original prose interpreting those specific coordinates. This is what separates an Astryx reading from a generic horoscope generator. Anthropic does not use API inputs for model training under its API data usage policy. • Google Analytics (aggregate usage analytics): we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are visited and how visitors move through the site, so we can improve it. It runs with IP anonymization on and all advertising features off, and it only sets analytics cookies after you accept cookies in our banner. Until then, and if you decline, it collects only aggregate, cookieless measurements. We do not link this data to your account, and Google Analytics is never used for advertising or sold to anyone. • Vercel (hosting and privacy-friendly analytics): the Service is hosted on Vercel, and we use its aggregate, cookieless web analytics. Privacy notice: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

The Astryx Shop sells one-shot deep-dive guides, bundles of guides, and gift cards. The data we collect and store for a shop purchase is the same as for any other reading: a record of the purchase (product, amount, date), the guide generated from your birth chart, and a Stripe payment confirmation. We never see or store your card details.

Downloadable PDFs of your guides are generated on demand from your reading data each time you click Download. We do not retain a separate copy of the PDF on our servers, and we do not embed any tracking pixels or identifiers inside the file. The PDF is yours.

Gift cards. When you purchase a gift card you provide the recipient's email address and an optional personal message. We store both, deliver them by email at the scheduled time, and link the card to the recipient's account when they claim it. The recipient's email address is used solely to deliver the card and is not added to any marketing list.

Astryx uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or sell tracking data to third parties.

We use Vercel Web Analytics, an aggregate, privacy-friendly analytics service provided by our hosting platform. It records page views, referrers, browser, country, and OS for the purpose of understanding which pages are used and from where. It does not use cookies, does not collect or store any personal identifiers, does not build cross-site profiles, and does not link visits across sessions. We also use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate usage. It runs with IP anonymization on and all advertising features off. We use Google Consent Mode: analytics cookies are only set after you accept cookies in the banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, or before you choose, Google Analytics collects only aggregate, cookieless measurements and sets no analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's cookies. You can read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Because we honor your cookie choice through a consent banner, we treat a "Do Not Track" browser signal consistently with that choice; declining cookies in our banner is the most direct way to opt out of analytics cookies.

Astryx is operated from the United States. Your personal data, including your account information, birth details, and readings, is stored on servers located in the United States (Supabase infrastructure on AWS us-east-1).

If you are accessing Astryx from outside the United States, including from the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Canada, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using Astryx and creating an account, you acknowledge this transfer. We rely on standard contractual clauses and our subprocessors' own compliance frameworks as the legal basis for these transfers where applicable.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your personal data, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls that limit who can access data, and the use of PCI-compliant payment processing through Stripe so that we never receive or store your card details.

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are also responsible for keeping your account password confidential.

If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law, and take steps to address it.

Your account, birth chart, and readings are kept for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account anytime from the Settings tab in your account, which permanently removes all associated data within 30 days. You can also request deletion by emailing support@astryx.life. We may retain limited records where necessary to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, after which they are deleted or anonymized.

We send transactional emails that are necessary for your account and purchases, such as receipts, reading-delivery notifications, and account confirmations; these are not marketing and cannot be opted out of while you have an active account. We do not send promotional or marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in, and if you do opt in you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email or by contacting support@astryx.life.

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
• Export your reading history.
• Object to or request restriction of certain processing.
• Withdraw consent for data processing at any time (note: withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal).

To exercise any of these rights, email support@astryx.life. We will respond within 30 days and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

EEA and UK residents (GDPR): If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our lawful bases for processing are described in the "Legal bases for processing" section above.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. Automated decisions: Readings and guides are generated by automated systems for informational and reflective purposes. We do not use your personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you.

Some pages on Astryx, including the free compatibility tool, let you generate a shareable link. Any such link encodes only the selections you made (for example, the two signs being compared), not your account or birth data. We do not track who receives or opens these links. Sharing is entirely at your discretion.

We may create aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, for example to understand usage trends and improve the Service. We may use and retain such data without restriction, and it is not subject to this policy because it is no longer personal data.

If Astryx is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, or in the unlikely event of insolvency, your personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to honor the commitments in this Privacy Policy, and we will notify you of any change in who controls your data or of any materially different privacy practices.

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by other means. Continued use of Astryx after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
